For Gen 1 and Gen 3 routers, you have to press the factory reset button given at the bottom of your device with a paper clip or small screwdriver. After this, wait for some minutes to complete your resetting process. For a Gen 2 router, you have to plug and unplug the router 6 times waiting only a few seconds between each power cycle.

Make sure that all the equipment reaches the buyer in a protected and good manner.

Before buying a used or new Starlink, make sure that your address lies in the coverage area of Starlink; otherwise, you won’t be able to enjoy unlimited internet Starlink service.

How To Buy & Activate Used Starlink?

You can buy and activate your used Starlink in just 4 simple steps. As we have now learned about how to sell and transfer a used Starlink, it’s time to talk about how to buy it. In this section, we will guide the buyer of Starlink to follow all the steps in detail to successfully buy and activate your Starlink.

Step 1. Collect the Starlink Hardware ID

You have to collect the DEVICE ID and TERMINAL ID from the seller. You will need these IDs during the activation process. I have provided you with an example below to show what each ID looks like.

  1. DEVICE ID – KIT00525687
  2. TERMINAL ID – ut01000000-00000000-008c67bb (you don’t need “ut” in the ID just numbers are enough).

Step 2. Contact Starlink

Now the crucial step for the buyer is to sign up for the Starlink official account with a Gmail address and password. Then navigate to the Activate section of Starlink and enter either Terminal ID or Device ID. Now choose one of the two options. (I) open a new Starlink account, and (ii) continue with the existing account.

Step 3. Choose The Service Plan

Your 3rd step is to choose a service plan. If you provided the right ID, then a new section to choose the Starlink service plan will appear on your device. You have to write your address in the section given at the bottom of the screen. Your entered address will allow you to choose the service plan as per availability. The residential plan is best for major users of Starlink.

Remember that buying used Starlink doesn’t mean that you will get all types of service plans or get internet in whatever location you want. You still need to contact Starlink and choose plans according to area availability. Areas with low coverage capacity will not allow you to use the residential and business plans, while areas with very crowded populations don’t allow you to have a very high-speed internet connection.

Step 4. Complete The Order

Finally, after filling in your billing address and contact information in the next section of the Starlink form, Click on Place Order once everything is filled up completely and correctly. Without any delay, your service will start, and the only thing you need to do now is successfully install your Starlink.

Now you can enjoy unhindered and unlimited internet service via Starlink in remote areas where the internet was never before. You have to just pay monthly for it.

Starlink Buying and Selling Tips

If you are going to sell or buy used Starlink, then read my tips carefully, because these tips will help you a lot during the process.

For Seller

  • You must choose a trusted marketplace like eBay to list your device and be aware of scammers by contacting the buyer through their contact information.
  • Before selling, ask the buyer to check the address where they want to set up Starlink and whether the address is under the coverage map of Starlink. If yes, then proceed; otherwise, look for another buyer.
  • The seller can also suggest buyers choose Roam service if residential and business plans are currently on the waitlist for that area.

    For Buyer

    • If you are buying via eBay, then you need to pay in advance, and don’t forget to use the Buyer Protection feature to get Starlink devices in proper working condition.
    • If the seller’s address is close to yours, then you must personally go to check the working condition of the hardware, like the dish, router, and cable, which must be in good condition and provide an internet connection.
    • Take all the invoices, seller bills, and account status in order to check whether the account is active or terminated and whether all dues are paid or not.

Can I cancel or reverse a transfer?

To cancel or reverse a transfer of used Starlink totally depends on whether you are a seller or a buyer. For a seller, no, you can’t cancel or reverse a transfer. Because once the buyer activates the account via your ID, there is no way back. But if the buyer refuses to accept the delivery or return your order, then you can’t either activate Starlink for yourself or deliver it to another buyer.

For a buyer, yes, you can cancel the transfer process, and if you have activated the account, then you can simply either cancel your subscription or sell the used Starlink kit to others.

How much is a used Starlink worth?

The expected price range of a used Starlink is $300–$500, as the original cost of a Starlink kit is $599 plus shipping charges. As per eBay listings for used Starlink, the price range varies from $600-$700 + shipping charges, which is more than the original cost.

If you are getting used Starlink in proper working condition at a fair price, meaning less than the original price, then you can buy it; otherwise, you should buy a new Starlink kit.

Is There Any Warranty for Used Starlink?

According to Starlink Limited Warranty, for the Standard Starlink Kit, the warranty period is 12 months in all countries except the UK and EU, from the date of original purchase. So while selling, transferring, or buying the used Starlink, the remaining warranty also transfers to a new owner.
